GlobeOp forecasts rise in hedge fund redemptions

Hedge fund redemption requests for November measured 3.4 per cent, a rise on last month's 2.5 per cent, according to GlobeOp Financial Services' Forward Redemption Indicator.
鈥淲e expect fund redemption requests to increase as year-end approaches,鈥 said Hans Hufschmid, CEO, GlobeOp Financial Services. 鈥淛anuary is typically the largest month as investors rebalance their portfolios. Redemptions this year are similar to 2010 and there are no signs of unusual investor activity.鈥
Forward redemptions as a percentage of GlobeOp AUA have trended significantly lower since reaching a high of 19.3 per cent in November 2008.
