Citi now offers securities lending services in Malaysia through its OpenLend platform. The new service will allow offshore and domestic investors access to the Malaysian market.

The firm鈥檚 current expansion follows a string of recent launches including securities lending on the National Stock Exchange in India and an industry trading desk in Dublin.

David Russell, Asia Pacific head of securities and fund services at Citi, said: 鈥淭he launch of the securities lending services in Malaysia further underscores our commitment to expanding our product offering.鈥

鈥淭he new service leverages our deep on-the-ground expertise and global capabilities through our core in-country infrastructure, as well as our product and relationship teams.鈥

David Martocci, global head of securities finance for Citi transaction services, said: 鈥淓merging markets are an area of particular expertise for our business as we are able to leverage Citi鈥檚 vast global footprint and our team鈥檚 deep market knowledge.鈥

鈥淓xtending our lending services in Asia enables our clients to take advantage of the lucrative revenue opportunities in these markets such as Malaysia.鈥
