Eurex Repo’s clients are now able to trade pound sterling (GBP) against debt securities of the UK government denominated in GBP.

The product is available in the new UK gilt basket.

Eurex Repo clients that wish to trade the new UK government bonds against GBP need to have respective GBP cash accounts set up at Eurex Clearing.

In order to settle GBP payments, a multi-currency account with Clearstream Banking or Euroclear Bank is required.

According to Eurex, more than 50 UK gilts and treasury bills will be available for trading against GBP in the special and general collateral (GC) segment of Eurex’s Repo market.

The addition aims to expand the Euro Repo Market from a euro environment to a multi-currency one.

Accordingly, Euro Repo Market will be re-branded as Repo Market.

Additionally, Eurex Repo will introduce GBP as new cash currency for the GC Pooling, European Central Bank (ECB), ECB EXTended, INT MXQ and Equity Basket in Q3 2016.
