Penson appoints new independent director

Penson's board of directors has announced the appointment of Robert Basso as independent director. He is also appointed as as a member of two committees - Audit and Nominating and Corporate Governance.
Roger Engemoen, chairman at Penson said, 鈥淏ob has more than 40 years of industry leadership experience in securities clearing, execution, settlement, administrative and management information services. He is considered to be a pioneer in clearing, having played key roles at Fidelity鈥檚 National Financial, UBS PaineWebber鈥檚 Correspondent Services Corporation,and Merrill Lynch鈥檚 Broadcort Capital.鈥�
In other roles, Basso serves as managing director of BEST Partners, an independent financial services consulting firm he founded in 2006. He has also served in various roles as a member of numerous industry associations, including those which preceded and later became SIFMA and FINRA.
In other people moves, James Dyer has resigned from the Penson board. 鈥淲e also thank Jim Dyer for his service and dedication to Penson since joining the Board in 2000,鈥� Engemoen said.
