Schmid departs securities finance

Robin Schmid has stepped down as head of securities finance and collateral trading at Basler Kantonalbank to pursue a journey outside the industry.
He joined the firm in 2021, following his three-year tenure as a securities lending and borrowing (SLB) and repo trader at Vontobel.
Prior to that, he spent more than five years at Z眉rcher Kantonalbank, where he grew from a banking apprentice to deputy head of market operations, SLB, collateral, and mandates.
鈥淟ooking back, I realise how much this industry has shaped me 鈥� not just professionally, but also through the many incredible people I鈥檝e had the privilege to work with. This time has been filled with insights, trust, and genuine partnerships,鈥� says Schmid.
He is now taking on a new role as managing director at Actness Horizon, where he will support entrepreneurs and businesses in structuring their financial landscape, making informed decisions, and identifying new opportunities across portfolios, projects, and financing solutions.
In addition, Schmid has also joined Swiss Harvest as an asset and relationship manager, providing access to wealth management services.
